Sitting in the dining room, Sam slid a glass of milkshake from one hand to the other in boredom. Taking a sip of the chocolate drink he sighed loudly, it was only morning and yet boredom had already caught hold of him. Resting his head in his right hand he sighed again, slouching further onto the table. You would think life would get that little bit more exiting once you gained superpowers, but that didn't seem the case.
Everyone he had met so far seemed to be a little bit stuck up, not deeming you worthy to talk to if your powers weren't as good as theirs. But who was to judge, personally he though talking to animals was way cooler than super strength, but maybe that was just him. Moving so he was in a more comfortable position, Sam looked around the room. He had to admit his powers where rather inconvenient, even if he found an animal it was rare if they decide to help him. Choosing to be insulting instead, so far he had met some pretty nasty pigeons.
His other power however he was more fond of. The ability to mimic a certain animals characteristics to an extent was great. Sure the strength of an elephant wouldn't be as powerful as someone with super strength, but in his eyes it was still pretty good. The ability always came with a cost though, side effects where always there when he had stopped using. For example after eagle eyes he would get blurred vision for a while, so basically he wasn't the best superhero ever.
Finishing the milkshake with one long sip he grinned at nothing, at least something had changed for once. Not like the pedestrians on the street could even talk to animals. Deciding to take that positivity he felt better, looking out the large window, It was a great day. Swirling the straw around the cup he decided to take a walk later, maybe even go buy a pet. A dog that would actually help him if he needed seemed good, what use was a pigeon anyway.

Rae had finished her morning traing session. She was starving though. She needed to get some food. She hoped that she hadn't smelled too bad. She didn't want to make her presence to unbearable for the rest of the poeple.
Rae paused as she passed a small mirror in the hallway. She sighed. Well at least she didn't care what other people thought. Her hair was falling out in various places from her ponytail. Her face was flushed from the training. bits of her bangs stuck to her forhead because of sweat. Oh yes she looked like Miss America.
She made her way to the kitchen and began to rumage through the kitchen cabinets to find things that she could make breakfast with. She sighed as she got out stuff to make herself quite an impressive stack of french toast. She began to cook the food and when she was finsihed she poured herself a gigantic glass of milk and bathed her french toast in syrup.
She walked into the dinning room to find that she wasn't alone. "Sam," Rae said somewhat shocked. She hadn't been back very long and she had wondered how many people had decided to intergrate. She was happy that Sam hadn't been one of them. She saw the milkshake he had been drinking. "Chocolate milkshake breakfast of champions. So what'd I miss when I was gone? Any misguided aliens try to take over the world?"

Still playing with the straw and staring intently at the cup ,Sam didn't notice Rae until he heard her voice. Snapped from his thoughts, he jumped slightly, breaking out of a trance. Turning to look at the source of the sound, he grinned as he saw her. Pleasantly shocked to see she was back. "Rae" he replied brightly, happy there was some decent company back.
Laughing at her remark he pushed the empty glass away "Bullseye. Nothing beats a good chocolate milkshake, and nobody makes em better than me. Want one?" Getting up from the seat he moved to make one up, regardless if she wanted one. The ice cream was already out and plus if she didn't want it, waste not want not.
"No I'm afraid there hasn't been any alien invasions" he laughed, dropping some chocolate ice cream into a blender. "All there has been is a few power hungry villains with inflated heads. The usual really, I swear give em half a brain and they would be dangerous" Pouring in the milk and starting the blender he turned back round, facing Rea whilst leaning back onto the counter. "So how about you? been up to much? I think that is the real interesting question here."

"Sure why not," Rae said. She was probably going to gain all of those calories back that she had just burned off, but she hadn't had one of Sam's milkshakes in forever. "Want some of my French toast?" She had to admit that she wasn't the best chef, but she knew how to make a few things well and French toast was definately one of those things.
Sam wanted to know what she had been doing. Not even Schatten had asked her that yet. She knew why she had gone. That was for sure but she couldn't tell either of them what had made her leave.
"Stuff," Rae said after a bite of French toast. "A little of this a little of that. Nothing really all that interesting. Went to Vegas got married one night and divorced in the morning. You know the usual."

Grinning Sam pretended to be offended by her lack of interest. "My milkshake deserves a bit more enthusiasm than that , thank you very much" crossing his arms sharply in a huff, the grin never left his face. When she asked about the toast he had to refrain a laugh, he had tasted her cooking before and it wasn't the best experience. Deciding to give her cooking another shot, he nodded "Sure sounds lush"
Listening to Rae's withdrawn answer to his question Sam didn't push it. He wasn't the nosiest person in the world, so he guessed trying to hold back the curiosity would have to do. Laughing at her comment Sam turned back around to the blender, pouring the thick chocolate milkshake out into a fresh glass.
"You got married and never invited me? Im offended ,I really am." not able to keep a straight face, he giggled slightly as he added the cream to the top of the milkshake, finally adding the straw. "I have a suit and everything I could have worn, I could have been your maid of honor" walking over to Rae, Sam stook his tongue out before handing her the glass. "voila, hope you like"

"I think you'd have to fight Schatten for maid of Honor," Rae said. She picked up her glass of milk and drank quite a bit of it before taking the milkshake from him. "Thanks. But you probably want to know what I was really doing for the past three months hmm?" Rae asked.
"I traveled simply put," Rae said. "Just got tired of being couped up in this place so I went and stretched my legs for a bit. I'm sure that I won't be so wound up again until at least Thursday."
"But what about you? What did you do while I was gone?"

Sam laughed "Oh really? Well by the looks of him I guess I wouldn't be winning that battle. Oh well too late now anyway" he said, still faking a huff. Curiosity was getting the best of him, but he only nodded at her question, trying to act cool and unaffected. Moving to a counter closer to her he leaned against it, feeling more comfortable that way than standing upright. He guessed he was just a natural lazy guy.
"Wow Thursday, you last long" he chuckled but still not blaming her for leaving. Sure the place was boring, but it was home. Or at least home away from home, and he didn't feel like leaving himself. "Meh. Don't blame you for wanting a break, find anything interesting on your travels?"
"I haven't really been up to much, the usual stuff that I was doing before you left really. Working on my powers and having entertaining conversations with squirrels" chuckling slightly at an old memory, he looked down at his trainers, suddenly feeling incredibly boring. "My act is getting better though, the crowds love it. I have added a lot more tricks since you were here, even adding normal magic tricks."

"You'll have to show me later," Rae said to Sam. She supposed that things had been boring. Schatten had said the exact same thing to her. Everything was boring here and that he would do anything for a fight. "I just hope that a certain few of you don't get too restless and start fighting with one another because I would rather not have to break up a fight on my second day back."
Rae could remember countless fights that had occured here and she could remember quite a few that she was involved in and it always seemed to end badly whenever she was invovled. It was just how she had been very volitale and always doing something that she always regretted but few seemed to hold it against her that she always spent time with those people who didn't try and get her to stop fighting well unless she was in the middle of a fist fight with someone.

"I will hold you to that" Sam smiled "I now do my show in the park, got a license not long ago. The park gets much more of a crowd" he said, obviously pleased with himself. He did like to show off in front of people after all.
"Second day? how come I haven't seen you yet" he looked confused before shrugging "There have been a few fights recently I suppose, I guess you could say its out of restlessness." They where one of the few entertaining moments of the place, just because everyone was on the good side, didn't mean they had to like each other. He had seen is fair amount of fights, never being in one himself.
"There has also been a lot of the bad guys beaten to a pulp though, but I never see them as being too bad. Just petty criminals that got the shock of their life" chuckling slightly Sam looked up at Rae "I still haven't been in a fight yet though thank god"

"I was catching up with someone else," Rae said telling the truth but not wanting to get teased for who she was catching up with. She had been teased more then once when it came to how much time she had spent with Schatten. "He found me first. You'll just have to be quicker next time."
"And I thought that you had moved past talking to squirrels and were talking to normal people again," Rae said sighing and shaking her head. She took another sip of his milkshake. It was the only thing she had left after finishing her french toast. She leaned back against her chair.
"So are you going to come any closer or are you going to keep your distance the entire time that I'm here?" she asked getting up and standing in front of him. "See unlike squirrels I don't bite unless you want me to."

"oh really?" Sam smirked , who it was blatantly obvious from her tell tale 'he'. He hadn't met Schatten but knew she hung around him a lot, and so the slightest details about him. "I guess I will. Hard to be fast though, when you don't know what you are looking for."
Watching her sigh and shake her head Sam grinned "Nah, so much more fun to talk too. They are rude little buggers I tell you that." picking up an apple from a nearby fruit bowl he bit into it with a crunch. "And besides animals are so much easier to talk to, they never have any hidden motives. If they want my food, they demand it. So much easier" taking another bite he watched as she drank another bit of the milkshake "You like then?"
"Im not that far away" Sam laughed sticking his tongue out nervously, watching her come closer. Not budging as she stood in front of him. "See that just sounds painful, but whatever floats your boat" nervous at the close proximity he unconsciously leaned back the slightest bit more onto the table. He had never been good at social situations.

"Yeah it's great," Rae said in reference to the milkshake. "Much better then what most resturants make with that powerdery stuff. It's just not the same." She smiled at him as she took another sip through her straw. "You know I"d never lie to you." She watched as he leaned back away from her.
"What why are you so afraid of being near me?" Rae asked. She didn't really understand it. 'I'm not going to do anything that you don't want me to do. I mean come on." She didn't understand why he was being this way. It was insane. He was acting like some school boy with a crush on a girl and it was the first time he had been alone with her.
"You're starting to act like a guy who's all alone in a house with his crush but is way too nervous to do anything."

"The powdered stuff is an insult to a good milkshake, Ice cream and milk is the only way to go" Sam said, fully believing every word. He was a lover of food, and what he considered to be a good cook, so he usually got a bit carried away when talking about it.
Not realizing he had moved back he was shocked by her outburst "I er.. have no idea what you are talking about. Im not afraid of being near you, although your starting to freak me out now" Laughing weakly at his joke, Sam took another bite of his apple. Not enjoying being put under pressure.
"oh yer thats it. Thats why im being weird" he said sarcastically looking away from Rae and across the room.

Rae sighed at him. "Don't freak I wasn't serious," Rae said. Ok so she was semi serious about it. He had been acting strange around her and it wasn't like she was going to read his mind about it. Rae turned around and sat on another counter. "Sorry."
Well this was turning out to be wonderful. She messed up and she wans't even back for forty eight hours. "Guess I just forgot that you were anti-social or whatever. . . " She finished the last of the milkshake and telekinetically put her glass in the sink. She didn't want things to become akward in the silence.
"It's just that you normally don't get anti-social around me maybe I"ve just been gone too long and you need to get used to me again."

"You don't have to apologize, its not like you did anything wrong" Sam shrugged watching her move away, he hadn't meant to stand miles away, or even realize it. Sure he fancied her the slightest bit, but so far he didn't think it had made anything awkward. Maybe he had been wrong.
He could tell things were getting awkward, and that was the last thing he wanted. Time to try and joke his way out of it, serious situations just didn't work for him. "Im not that antisocial, sure Im not the most social person. But there is no need to make me look like a lonely old hermit" Grinning again he watched as the glass flew through the air. "I still find that so cool"
When Rae finished speaking Sam sighed. "look i didn't realize I was being antisocial, so maybe. But thats easily changed isn't it" Smiling he looked around the room "And a dining room isn't the best place, how about going somewhere different?"
