Hands dug deep into the warm depths of his leather jacket pockets, Sam strolled through the park at a slow pace. Enjoying the peace and quite, the sun and the fresh air. He needed to get away from the headquarters for his own mental health, he was sure such high amounts of boredom could be lethal. The gravel crunched beneath his boots, as he looked over to where he would usually be performing at this time of day. But his bad mood stopped him from even considering the idea, too busy to make people gawp.
What he was after was a companion, a dog to be exact. The idea had hit him when he sat bored one evening, and now he saw it as unhinged genius. A dog that would listen to him, do as he asked and possible even hold conversations with sounded fantastic. Because sure when he asked some animals would occasionally speak to him, or help him but it was incredibly rare.
Kicking a stone Sam listened idly to a row from a passing family, shouting over meaningless things. He couldn't understand it so tried to block out the voices, relaxing once again. He had finally reached the end of the short cut/detour through the park. At the end of the street was a small kennel, where stray dogs caught on the street where brought in. Walking up to the building Sam took a deep breath before walking in, making sure he didn't tune into his animal hearing just yet, so could drown out the loud barks.
After a short conversation with the kennel owner Sam was allowed into the back with all the dogs. Each dog jumping up against its confides desperate to get out, an animal lover at heart he wished he could let them all out. But knew he would be lucky sneaking one dog into the headquarters. Walking along the cages one dog caught his eye, a large American mastiff sat unmoving in the end cage. Unlike the other dogs it was calm, yet seemingly friendly. Asking for some alone time, he managed to somehow shoo off the confused worker, coming closer to the cage.
Switching to animal hearing he groaned as the shrill barks became shouts for freedom, not unlike what you would expect from a human prison. "Hey. How are you?" he asked softly still looking at the large head of the mastiff as it thingyed its head to the side in confusion. How the hell can you speak Grinning Sam moved so he now sat on his haunches, now at the dogs level. "I have powers I guess. So how long have you been here......Max?" he asked, looking at the tag hanging from the chain collar the dog had, amazed as allways at the fact that each animal always saw him as a freak show . Long time hearing the simple reply Sam frowned, this dog needed to be out he could tell, plus it seemed friendly enough "Well Max I'm going to let you out, bare in mind Im not gonna shut up though. This might not be a great thing".
Now standing outside, Max next to him Sam realized he hadn't thought this far ahead. The previous fantasies of a sidekick suddenly showed its true ridiculousness and now he stood, an awkward feeling settling slowly. "My room isn't far from here, its comfy and large. So I think you will be happy there" Smiling down at Max, he started to walk forward, intending to walk back through the park. Noticing Max's obvious euphoria of being outside. Anything is better than a cage
Finding it strange treating Max like a dog, now they were talking freely Sam let him off the lead. Ignoring the evil glares he got from other pedestrians in the park, sure he guessed letting a huge dog of the leash wasn't very clever but he knew Max wouldn't do anything. "So what did you do before you got caught or whatever? Where you a street dog?" now more comfortable he spoke a bit more cheerfully, smiling when he watched the dogs head move as a nod of agreement. I was part of a gang, its hard on the streets still finding the human like speech weird Sam nodded softly, well aware that his private conversation was getting many looks.
"Well you seem like a nice uh...Dog. So you don't have to worry about the streets, you can stay at mine, unless you want to leave of course." Sitting on one of the park benches Sam relaxed, allowing Max to get some air before he smuggled him into the hideout. "I will buy you loads of food etcetera tomorow, I think you will have to come with me though because I have no idea what to buy" Fully engrossed in the conversation Sam didn't pay attention to the world around him. Blocking out the stares of the people passing by, obviously thinking him a weirdo.

Alice went out into the city again, she found it good to get fresh air, and a great way to meet some new people. Just the other day she met this girl in the park, she wasn’t quite sure about the girl, she seemed a bit different. But still no matter the kinds of people she met it didn’t stop her from going out again. Alice walked down the corner of the street her arms were crossed at her chest she wore blue capris with a white t-shirt and some white shoes. Her hair however was wavy, as usual and it passed her shoulders barely.
As she walked into the park she passed this family and they were talking about all these random things. Alice couldn’t help but put a smile on her face. The citizens had it so easy she thought, Alice’s whole life has changed since this experiment and she now fully regreted it. She sighed as she shook her head and brought herself back to reality where noting was going to change, she was in this for better or for worse.
She pointed her head up to the sky and watched the clouds pass. She walked over to a green bench nearby. She sat down and looked at the people that passed by a small smile appeared on her face. She looked over to a teenage girl that passed by she decided to listen in on this girls thoughts, this was her idea of fun nowadays. Alice was doing this to some people when out of the corner of her eye she caught sight of a guy that seemed to be talking to a dog and he looked sort of familiar.
Alice sat there staring at the guy and squinting to try and get a better look at him. But he kept talking to an animal, an eyebrow rose as she walked. After about a few minutes she got up from her bench and put her hands in her pockets a made her way over to the guy and the dog. Once she got a little bit closer she did recognize him he was a hero just like her, but she hardly talked to the guy she figured she could use the chance to talk to him.
”Hey.” she said looking at him, then she looked down at the dog and back at the guy and gave a small smile.

Leaning back on the bench Sam stretched his legs out, wiggling his feet slightly before putting them back down. "How is life as a dog anyway? I bet its weird" he asked leaning his head back onto the hard wood of the bench, shutting his eyes. How is life as a human?, bet thats weirder Sam laughed, only he would pick a smart ass for a dog. "I guess your right, but I still couldn't imagine being a dog"
Hearing a voice he opened his eyes, noticing a woman standing in front of him. The sun blocked his view however, so he couldn't see who it was. Shielding the sun from his eyes with his right hand, Sam looked back at her. Instantly recognizing her as one of the people from the headquarters. "Hey" he grinned, deciding to ignore the fact she obviously knew he had been talking to Max for the last half an hour, due to the knowledgeable glance she passed between them.
They had talked before briefly ,but that was no more than a few sentences if they found themselves in the same room. Holding out his free hand in greeting Sam smiled "Not sure if we have been introduced properly yet. But I'm Sam and this is Max" he said gesturing with his head at the dog, when he mentioned it. "Sit down, although the wood aint that comfy. Its must be better than having to stand." Still smiling he slid across the bench a little, allowing her plenty space to sit.

”Hey.” she said again looking at the guy. She listened as he introduced himself. ”well it’s nice to meet you Sam and Max.” she said looking back at the dog. ”I’m Alice.” she said extending her hand and shaking his. ”Thank you. i know, they really should make these benches more comfy.” she said with a smile across her face. She sat down on the wooden bench, and glanced over at the dog.
”So you can talk to animals then?” she asked she figured he could by the fact that he was talking to the dog. She thought that was a cool power. ”thats pretty cool.” she said with another smile. She hasn't met a person with that power yet she thought it was pretty unique.

"Nice to meet you too Alice" Sam smiled, shaking her hand before withdrawing it, putting it back into his pocket. "I know, I think we should complain whatcha say?" still smiling he touched the hard wood. "I mean they are so dangerous, you could easily get a splinter" Joking as per usual he pulled some fragments of wood from the bench, showing her before flicking it away.
"Oh so it's that obvious?" he asked with a laugh, "I just hoped people would think I was a nutter and keep well away, I can also take on animal qualities sometimes too. Im in tune with nature" Grinning he looked over at her "Its cool, but pretty much useless. How about yourself? any Fancie powers you would like to share?"

Alice nodded and smiled, then placed her hand on her lap. "You know, that is a good idea, I think we should." she looked down at the bench "I know." she said shaking her head in disappointment of the benches. She looked at small little pieces of wood, and watched him flick it away.
"Just a little obvious." she said laughing "Thats cool." she said with another smile "It's not, cant you like make animals come to your aid or like use the animal qualities to help you." she said with a questioning tone in her voice. "me, my powers are nothing special. I can read minds, and move stuff with them, and I also have healing powers, thats it." she said raising her hands and then dropping them on her lap.

Sam smiled at Alice, glad that she had a good sense of humor. There was nothing worse than talking to someone that didn't find the funny side of life, too hard to make conversations with. "Hmmm maybe I should tone down the talking then, don't want to get taken away and put in a straight jacket do I" grinning he looked down at Max who was busy staring down some squirrels. "I can use the animal qualities, but the whole animal aid thing just don't work." Rubbing his forehead he laughed "Just because you can speak to them, doesn't mean they will help im afraid."
"Nothing special? They sound like cool powers to me" looking at her he then frowned in thought "So that means if someone cut you or whatever it would just magically heal?"

Sam really had a good sense of humor, it was always good to have that, it made things easier. "maybe just a little, no you dont want to get a strait jacket on, but i dont think it would ever get that bad. she said with a smile. She looked down at the dog who seemed to be looking at the squirrels. Sometimes she wondered what actually went through their heads, she figured it would be pretty interesting. "oh, I wonder why." she said as she wrinkled her eyebrows. that seemed pretty weird. "are the conversations really interesting?" she asked
"mmm...i guess." she said "yup, if someone cut me i would heal myself. but i can heal other people to, it just takes a little bit longer." she said with a small smile across her face.

"I will take your word for it, maybe I just look like the opposite of a crazy cat woman" smiling Sam looked around the park at all the families coming and going, half the time he figured it was the busiest place in the city. Everyone coming over to try and relieve some of the everyday stress they get from work and the like. "Depends on the animal you try to talk to really. Squirrels for instance" he said pointing over to the squirrels Max was staring at "You cant really have a conversation with, Its all one word utterances. I think its because of the brain size though, all they want to talk about is food. Max is interesting though" he smiled stroking the dog's head.
"See that sounds pretty neat to me. Is there any limit to it? like how badly hurt can you be and still heal it?" Interested Sam looked over at her.

"maybe except for the fact that you dont have one bunch of animals following you, well at least not right now. So it's pretty much safe to say you don't look crazy or anything." This place did seem like the busiest, there were people here all the time. Mother with little kids that dont go to school. and people here during lunch and after work, so people were in this park at all time. Alice looked over at the squirrel when he mentioned it "it probably does have to do with their brain. But at least Max is interesting. So is Max your dog then?" she asked.
"I dont know really, because so far whenever i have gotten hurt it heals, but my injuries haven't been that bad...yet. And personally i hope they never do." She looked over at him as she spoke.

Sam burst out laughing when Alice finished her sentence "Wow I should so do that, I will be the new snow white or whatever. skipping along with all my animal friends, singing happily" he managed to say between laughs, imagining the scene. "I think If that happened people would defiantly have me locked up, especially If I dressed like snow white too" still giggling he looked back at Max "Yup, just got him from the pound, he used to be a street dog.I have no idea how Im going to sneak him into the headquarters though" Max was still staying quite and not speaking, sitting calmly.
Sam smiled "I suppose, and I hope they never get too bad either" noticing she was looking over him, he turned his head to look "What?"

Alice started laughing as well when he spoke about the snow white thing. "oh yes prancing around singing, you would be like snow white in the city. And Max would be at your side along with some others."she paused trying to think of that picture. "now that i'm pretty much sure you would if you did that." she said with a small laugh. "well thats good of you, taking him in and all. As for sneaking him in I can help you if you want." she said.
"i know, i would hate to find out." she said. ALice shook her head ad said "nothing."

"Snow white in the city?" Sam grinned "Sounds like a cheesy movie title" he then nodded in agreement that he would defiantly be locked up. "I think they want to lock half of us up anyway, for like you know. Powers and stuff". When she offered to help smuggle Max in, the grin on his face grew wider "Really? wow that would be fantastic. I have no idea what to do, guess hiding him under my coat wouldn't work" he joked, referring to the Dogs huge size,
When Alice shook her head he raised an eyebrow, "Oh really? Im sure I saw you looking behind me. Someone caught your eye?"

She laughed "it does." ALice paused when he spoke of wanting to lock us up. "Yes, I think they do want to lock us up, I also think that some of those people don't trust us at all." she said with a frown on her face. To bad they didn't know that some of the people with powers are willing to help them and protect them. "Yeah really." she said with a smile "No i dont think hiding Max under your coat would work at all, he is a bit to big." she said looking at Max. "we just got to figure out how to get him in." she said thinking.
"No, i didn't see anything i just had to check my surroundings, but i didn't she anyone but you and Max next to you." she said.

"People just don't trust or like what they don't understand, or find different" Sam shrugged sadly "Its been proven forever, and I doubt things are going to change" he said, not sure if he cared anymore. Sure the distrust used to really hurt, but now he was used to it, blocking it out.
"Thanks, I really appreciate it. I suppose we could sneak him in through the back way, both of us might be able to provide some cover before we get him into my room. Not a great plan, but worth a try I guess" he said, smiling. You better not be thinking of some weird ways to get me in that room. Because Im having none of it' Red complained next to him. Causing Sam to laugh slightly.
"Oh ok, I believe you" Sam smirked joking slightly.
